Anderson, Sullivan, and Sanford Continue to Shine

Authored by Scott Jordan on January 18, 2024

Last Saturday was a groundbreaking night for Monster Jam’s female superstars as Grave Digger’s Krysten Anderson, Megalodon’s Ashley Sanford, and Monster Mutt Dalmatian’s Jamie Sullivan won Overall Event Championships on their respective series. While Anderson has been at the top of her game for years now, Sullivan and Sanford are entering only their second year of competition. In sports, it is common for competitors to fall into the dreaded “sophomore slump,” but the two popular drivers have other plans as they continue to ascend into the upper echelon of Monster Jam superstars.

At the Tacoma Dome, 2023 co-Rookie of the Year Sanford prevented a sweep by Grave Digger’s Brandon Vinson when she laid down the freestyle run of the night which ultimately clinched the event championship. The California native was rightfully very emotional as she accepted her hardware on the eve of her 30th birthday telling the Washington fans, “this is what dreams are all about.” The dream of a series win could be next for Ashley Sanford as the rising star continues to put all of her West Series rivals on notice.

Dreams were also coming true 1,847 miles east of Tacoma at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City when Monster Mutt Dalmatian’s Jamie Sullivan hoisted a championship of her own, just one week removed from winning her first in Nashville. After a solid rookie season on Arena Championship Central, Sullivan began hitting her stride on a series of stadium events, which included being a part of a dominant Team Neon at the Superstar Challenge. The UNOH graduated continues putting pressure on Weston Anderson and a few more overall wins could put Jamie Sullivan at the top of Central series.

Also on Saturday, deep in the heart of Digger Country at the Greensboro Coliseum, Krysten Anderson led Grave Digger to championship trophy. Just two years removed from becoming the first female series champion in Monster Jam history, Anderson appears to have found her groove. Riding a wave of momentum after she led Team Neon to a dominant win in Anaheim, the Blonde to the Bone driver has won three out five events on the series and finds herself right back where she belongs: At the top of the East series as one of the sport’s biggest and brightest stars.

Be on the lookout for all three of these Superstars when the latest Power Rankings are released. As the women’s evolution in Monster Jam continues to grow, we can expect three things out of Anderson, Sullivan, and Sandford: More wins, more championships, and more dreams coming true.
